The acronym needs context
EPC has other established meanings, including Engineering, Procurement and Construction. This publication addresses manufactured-product cost logic, rather than infrastructure or construction project delivery.
The visible publication name therefore spells out Enterprise Product Costing Software & Specialists. The software collection includes enterprise platforms and narrower costing tools, with their scope made explicit. We use the acronym only after making its meaning clear.
A useful term, not the only market term
FACTON uses Enterprise Product Costing. The wider landscape also uses Product Cost Management, Product Lifecycle Costing, manufacturing cost estimation and should costing.
Keeping those terms visible helps readers understand why tools can be relevant to the same industrial problem without having identical scope.
What belongs in this publication
The research focuses on dedicated product-cost software, cost-engineering services and cost data for manufacturers. A provider must have a documented material role in that field.
Generic ERP, PLM, procurement and financial planning systems do not qualify merely because they hold financial data. CPM appears as a management-planning connection, with examples rather than a separate provider collection.
An explicit taxonomy
Classifications are editorial interpretations grounded in provider material. Corrections are welcome where they improve factual accuracy or explain an important boundary.
