Methodology & Sources Policy

How profiles are selected, how evidence is attributed and how corrections become editorial changes.

A focused research collection

The starting point for this edition is the supplied Enterprise Product Costing ecosystem research report, dated 8 October 2026.

Public profile fields are checked against current provider material and presented in a common vocabulary. The initial edition is Europe-first in perspective, with relevant global offerings included.

The focus is software providers, specialist consultancies and cost-engineering practice. Implementation partners are not a dedicated MVP collection. Financial planning platforms appear as contextual examples in the planning guide, rather than as a separate directory.

Inclusion and exclusions

An offering qualifies when public evidence shows a material role in manufactured-product costing, Product Cost Management, manufacturing estimation, should costing, specialist cost engineering or relevant cost data.

Generic ERP, PLM, CAD, financial planning, procurement or accounting software does not qualify merely because it can hold cost information. Construction/project-delivery EPC belongs to a different field.

The first edition contains 19 offering profiles from 16 organisations: 15 software profiles, three consulting profiles and one cost-data profile. Different offerings from one organisation are linked; they are not counted as different companies.

The source hierarchy

  1. Official technical documentation: supports exact functionality, interfaces and deployment detail where examined.
  2. Official product or service material: establishes what the provider states.
  3. Public case studies: support a particular use case; they do not demonstrate universal fit.
  4. Independent sources: can challenge or corroborate claims where available.

The MVP records provider-stated facts. It does not independently test software, benchmark accuracy or delivery performance. Substantial profiles should accumulate further technical and case evidence through later reviews; a single product page is not a complete procurement assessment.

What the evidence labels mean

LabelMeaning
Provider-statedThe linked provider material supports the attributed description. It is not an independent test.
Source checkedThe specified public source was reviewed on the shown date.
Not verified for this editionThe field has not been established from the reviewed evidence. Absence is not inferred.
Provider review not obtainedNo factual verification response is incorporated in this edition.
Editorial classificationOur interpretation of documented scope, using a common taxonomy.

We reserve “provider-reviewed” for a documented factual response. It never means recommended, certified or independently audited.

Dates and review history

Every profile distinguishes the research baseline from the source-check date. The present baseline is 8 October 2026; initial public-source checks were performed on 9 October 2026.

A check date is not the source’s publication date. Provider pages may change. Ownership, integrations, deployment and partner relationships need fresh verification before they are used in a decision.

Verification history records the initial review and, when made, substantive corrections. No provider verification or endorsement is implied by initial inclusion.

Corrections and submissions

Anyone may suggest a factual correction, provide documentation or explain a classification issue. Include the affected profile, exact field, proposed change and a public evidence link.

Submissions are reviewed before changes. A source may support a statement without supporting a broader interpretation; we keep that distinction visible. Conflicting information remains open until it is resolved.

There is no automatic posting or provider self-service editing. Personal contact details and private correspondence are not added to the public dataset.

Prepare a correction or factual review request.

Editorial choices and commercial interests

Gunnar Schlüter is the publisher and also offers professional consulting. His historical FACTON employment is disclosed on the FACTON profile and the publisher page.

Editorial inclusion and correction are not conditional on a cooperation, referral, payment or backlink. The site provides no paid placements, ratings or rankings in this edition. Collection order is alphabetical.

Any material commercial relationship arising through the publication must be disclosed on affected content. A cooperation discussion does not create an endorsement or change the evidence standard.

Read the publisher background and cooperation perspective.

What this publication does not establish

The collection is deliberately small and does not claim market completeness. It is a preparation aid for professional conversations, not a recommendation engine or a substitute for requirements validation.

The planning bridge is an editorial synthesis informed by Gunnar’s practical Controlling background. It does not promise a turnkey connector or operational expertise in a named CPM platform.
